I am Garima from Uttarpara, West Bengal. It is a suburban area very near to Kolkata. I study in 9th standard in Methodist School, Dankuni. My father is in Central Government Service and my mother is a housewife.
Musical Background in Family
I have a musical family and from my childhood I have seen my dad playing Spanish Guiter. My mother is a Kathak dancer and a dance teacher. It is worthy to mention that my Lt. great grandfather was a famous flute player of his time having national and international reputation. Younger brother of my Lt. great grandfather was also a famous Sarad player. I have inherited this music from my parents and my ancestors.
From my early childhood I have an affection for music and I can sing a song by listening it by myself. My father noticed this and took me to my first a singing teacher, Respected Mam Jolly Mitra at the age of 3 years. After that I started learning basics of classical music from Respected Partha Sarathi Desikan in the year 2014. After that in the year 2020 I got introduced with Respected Prasana Mhhaiisalkar Sir and started learning classical and Bollywood songs mainly classical based songs.
About Prasana Mhhaiisalkar Sir I would like to say that I am very lucky to have a teacher like him. From him I have learnt how to sing with expression and with proper diction which were my shortcomings. My ear training to recognize notes has improved a lot. And overall, I have great improvement in my singing. And so far, I am concerned I would like to say one thing that I am learning music because I love it from my heart and I don’t expect anything from music but to learn it by heart properly and nothing else.
