Parul Singh

Hi,
I am Parul Singh. I was born and brought up in Dooars which is close to Darjeeling (West Bengal). The name of my home town is Mal Bazar.

I belong to a mixed cultured family, my Mom is Nepali and my Dad is from Bihar. I have completed my schooling from Caesar School (Mal Bazar) CBSE board, college from Jalpaiguri (PD women’s college) and did MBA from Siliguri ( ICFAI National College ) At present I am working in a West Bengal Government school at my home town as a Science teacher, earlier I have worked with ICICI Prudential Life insurance company till 2017.

Music is my hobby. I love singing and have learned Indian classical music in my childhood, I have also learned kathak form of dance and I do love dancing, I have also learned playing Violin. My dad was employed in West Bengal Electricity Department but always loved playing different instruments hence now after retirement he became a music teacher, he plays (Guitar, Piano, Violin, tabla) so I live in an environment full of music. My Mother is teacher in school and also a good singer. I can say that I have inherited music from my parents. Also my Maternal uncle is a Nepali singer, he is the one who discovered that even I can sing when I was 3 years old.

I always loved listening to the old Bollywood songs and followed Lata ji, Asha ji, Md. Rafi style of singing. My dad used to have a band and they performed and practiced regularly, I used to observe the singers singing and my dad training them how to sing, this is how I developed singing hobby,
I was always a performer in the school but later on when I started working with corporate (ICICI group), I became too busy as I was occupied with work and there was no time to sing or dance. But I always used to listen to the Bollywood classics when ever I used to be free. I take online singing classes from Guruji DR. PRASANA MHHAIISALKAR since last year, but I met him in the year 2015 when I was been asked to perform a Kathak dance at Mumbai While I was working with ICICI pru. Since then he has been a well wisher for me. I sing for my self, it’s just a hobby but I will definitely take it seriously as a profession if I get an opportunity to sing as a playback. Getting myself trained from Guruji DR. PRASANA MHHAIISALKAR is like a blessing for me.

I am really thankful to Lorraine Music Academy for providing me the platform to perform especially in this lockdown time and encouraging us to sing and perform something with Guruji DR. PRASANA MHHAIISALKAR and Shri Pradeep Udhas Ji.
