“Hello I’m Rishan Bhatnagar. I’m part of the Vienna Boys Choir. It is indeed the most famous boys’ choir in the world. I’m going to tell you my story of a life time. At the age of 5 I joined Lorraine Music Academy and I learnt Piano there. Learning the Piano at Lorraine Music Academy was very fun. But moreover it helped me sing the right notes right on time. It helped me how to read notes and it helped me overall in singing too.”

“At the age of 6, after I had got my musical year, Lorraine Music Academy asked me to perform at a LAMP^® Trust concert. So I did it. It was held on the 15th of August. Every day I went for every practice, even though some times it was really late at night. I had some sports classes before singing practice yet I came in with my sweaty t-shirt. I didn’t want to take a shower because it would make me late.”

“Later at the age of 9, the Vienna Boys Choir director – Gerald Wirth, came to the Mozart’s Children’s Choir. He came there to select some people for the Vienna Boys Choir. I was selected. At the age of 9 I went to the Vienna Boys Choir. I was the youngest there.”

“Recently I sang on the 10th of August at a LAMP^® Trust concert in Kingdom of Dreams. I sang ‘When You Wish upon a Star’ from Disney’s Pinocchio Movie.”

Importance of Piano, Singing and Practice

“If I hadn’t learnt the Piano then surely I wouldn’t be able to sing as well as I can today. Every singer needs practice, therefore practice is important. Once our Choir didn’t practice and we were off key, on the floor. We didn’t know anything at that concert. However once we practiced 5 days in a row before a concert in Carnegie Hall. Since we practiced we were the best we have ever been.”
