SUSMIT SEN With the intention of doing something beyond the ordinary in the 1990s, focussing on a unique kind of expression, Susmit Sen created the band ‘Indian Ocean’, which instantly struck a chord with the masses.

A largely instrumental band at that time, Indian Ocean slowly rose to fame, thanks to the unique genre and individual style that they developed. Having performed over 1,000 shows in about 24 different countries over the next more than 2 decades, he became a pioneer in original Folk-Rock Fusion music in India.

After playing with the band for national and international glory for more than 23 years, Sen left Indian Ocean to focus on his solo career.

He proceeded to continue his journey in music through self-exploration. He collaborated with artists like Shubha Mudgal, Papon and Bernie Marsden of the English band ‘Whitesnake’ under ‘Susmit Sen Chronicles’.

Collaborations with western classical pianist, Melanie Hardage, presented contrasting challenges, patterns and melodic structures, with new styles and new possibilities.

Currently, apart from his solo gigs including virtual ones and duo with Melanie Hardage, Susmit Sen is a part of ‘The Susmit Sen Trio’, which presents a series of dynamic yet engaging musical conversations. His Jazz laced guitar riffs and a signature style of playing the guitar – this is an unparalleled musical experience like you’ve never heard before!

Susmit’s unique mastery of the guitar and relevance across eras is a product of his sensibility, creativity and expression.

It’s his experiences that have created his signature, pan-Indian, universal sound, that cuts across ethnicities and communities.
